Barbate's Cliff

You are here

The endless sea and rugged cliffs are the real protagonists of this trail. We will discover the inhabitants capable of surviving the salt, wind and sun that mould this impressive natural barrier. Barbate and Caños de Meca are linked by an 8 km long seaside cliff. From a single viewpoint we can see the Spanish coastal towns of Barbate and Zahara de los Atunes, the Punta Camarinal ´s lighthouse and cape and opposite, Africa, emerging boldly from the other shore of the Strait. It is in these waters that the famous battle of Trafalgar took place in 1805. The lighthouse of Trafalgar awaits us just on the other side of Caños de Meca.
