Birdwatching Cruises

You are here

With departures from Barbate´s Harbor, located at the foot of the La Breña Pinewood in La Breña and Barbate Marshes Natural Park, small ship cruises are able to access remote locations safely and comfortably.  As such they are the perfect platform for bird enthusiasts to view species that may otherwise be difficult to reach. For best viewing, we suggest to cruise when the birds are most prolific. In the Strait of Gibraltar seabird watching is best during the spring and autumn migrations.

Up to 18.000 individuals of the endangered Balearic Shearwater and about 90.000 Cory’s Shearwaters have been counted crossing the Strait in a season. As well 35 other species of seabirds are spotted every year in the Strait of Gibraltar; Puffin, Razorbill, Great, Artic and Pomarine Skuas, Gannet, Leach´s Storm-petrel, European Storm-petrel and the scarce Wilson´s storm-petrel, different Tern´s species and Scoters among others are common.

Target Birds
