Description
Sierra de Andújar concentrate the biggest Iberian Lynx population in the world, the most endangered felid on planet earth. Therefore, in the most respectful way and carefully planning every outing to maximize our chances of a sighting, we will devote the weekend to exploring public areas and private estates trying our best to see this beautiful felid and learn about its behaviour and biology.
Being in mating season, our chances of locating the Lynx are substantially better and so we will scout listening out for any cat vocalization, Eurasian or Iberian Magpie alarm calls or any other sign that can point us in the direction of the Lynx. We will visit all the traditional hotspots as well as those locations with the best recent results.
The raptors are sure to keep us looking up to the sky as these mountain ranges host an outstanding presence of Spanish Imperial Eagles, Golden Eagles, Bonelli´s Eagles as well as Black Vultures, an absolute highlight for any nature lover. On top of that, we cannot forget about the little ones, as Andújar is an excellent area to enjoy birds such as the Hawfinch, Blue Rock Thrush, Rock Sparrow among many other passerines of interest. Other relevant mammals like the Eurasian Otter and the high density of ungulates such as the Red Deer, Fallow Deer and European Mouflon, will add to this nature experience revolving around the Lynx.
