Description
Located in the North of the province of Seville, right in the centre of Sierra Morena, Sierra Norte de Sevilla Nature Park is just about the best-preserved Mediterranean forest in the whole province. Dominated by open dehesa-type forests with Holm and Cork Oaks and some Portuguese Oaks in the more shadowy areas.
Due to the great diversity and abundance of raptors in Sierra Norte, this group of birds will capture a great deal of attention during our trip. Apart from the expected Griffon and Black Vultures, these mountain ranges are also home to Golden, Spanish Imperial and Bonelli´s Eagles, and other very interesting raptors like the Black-winged Kite or the Goshawk.
Taking into consideration the vast expanses of forest within this protected area, no question the forest birds will also be another top target during the two days of the trip. As we search for the Iberian Green Woodpecker, Iberian Magpie, Iberian Grey Shrike and more northerly species such as the Brambling, Eurasian Bullfinch and Ring Ouzel, we will put our senses to the test as we enjoy a great experience in stunning surroundings. Once in Cerro del Hierro and other adjacent sites, we cannot help but go in search of such interesting species as the Blue Rock Thrush, Rock Bunting and the majestic Eurasian Eagle Owl.
The gorgeous scenery of these mountains, a mouth-watering gastronomy based on the Iberian pig and local delicacies, as well as the amazing cultural heritage and local people, will all add to the experience and make sure you enjoy the best weekend.
